Saturday, April 16, 2016 A new queen is crowned

On Saturday, April 16, 2016, the HCHS cafetorium was filled with anxious spectators as well as contestants and decorated in a bright, vibrant Mardi Gras theme.  Jazz music played through the speakers and many local girls from 4-18 were dressed in dazzling gowns of sequins, satin, and sparkles-- all were vying for the title of Miss Columbia in their respective age categories.  Three beautiful young ladies were aspiring for THE title--  MISS COLUMBIA.  Juniors Katelyne Glover and Carlee Culbreth and senior Taylor Lee all looked to take up the crown from last year's Miss Columbia 2015 Cami Lee Kueckelhan.  The competition was fierce.  Katelyne Glover won the interview portion of the competition; Carlee Culbreth rocked the essay portion of the pageant; and Taylor Lee excelled in the photogenic portion.  It was anyone's guess who would come out victorious in the end.  As the scores were tallied, the audience was treated to a couple of songs.  Cami Lee Kueckelhan sang "I Will Remember You" followed by Justyn Smith both playing and singing Elton John's "Rocketman."  Intermission over,  it was time to hear the results.....  2nd Runner Up:  Katelyne Glover.   1st Runner Up:  Carlee Culbreth and ...... finally..... drumroll please:  TAYLOR LEE was crowned Miss Columbia 2016!!!

Taylor Lee is a lively, vivacious senior at Houston County High School.  Taylor is active in athletics at HCHS where she is a cheerleader by fall and a softball player by spring.  Everyone knows Taylor by her big smile and endless energy.  We know she will do well in representing our town and school throughout the year to come.

Congratulations to Taylor and congratulations to all the young ladies who came out and participated.  Roar Lions!!
